Update 2020
Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur FC seem to have all the right priorities in addition to being successful on the pitch! They are committed to improving the environment and sending out a very positive message to fans. In the last few years their environmentally-sensitive Training Centre development has seen the preservation and nurture of historic hedgerows. These actions pave the way for the gradual addition of their proposed Environmental Centre and Nature Reserve. To support their pledge to encourage sustainability and a responsible approach to the environment, they have put in place a number of other measures also.
The club announced its aim to tackle environmental pollution and its plans to remove any single use plastics from its operations. Plastic straws, cutlery, stirrers and plastic packaging will be things of the past. They have also included a ‘bag for life’ in the One Hotspur membership pack. The measures have been adopted at the club’s fabulous new stadium in London which opened in 2019. A new small amphitheatre is now proposed that will be sunken below ground level so as not to visually impact the area. Community education and involvement in biodiversity and ecology in the area is one of the club’s aims.
Premier league football club Tottenham Hotspur are planning to build an education and environment facility including a nature reserve, adjacent to the club’s training ground. The proposed construction was given the all clear by Enfield Council, and will feature outdoor teaching space as well as indoor classrooms. The building will also incorporate a multi use sports pitch to further Tottenham’s record of coaching, education and outreach work.
