Meanwhile the government has released funds for the building of a further 50 schools as part of its 10 year school rebuilding programme. The programme aims to deliver 500 rebuilding projects over the next decade. The latest 50 projects brings the total so far to 100, and in addition to the building activity, the Department for Education (DfE) will also launch a consultation. The focus of this is to gather views about prioritising schools yet to be planned. Once scope and delivery plans for each new school are developed, project funds will be released.
Projects will include either replaced or refurbished buildings and whole school rebuilds, with most taking up to five years to complete. The DfE stated that an important priority for these new build schools is that they are net zero carbon when being used. Among the schools selected for funding for building works is Burnt Mill Academy in Harlow, Essex. Helena Mills, chief executive of the school’s trust, said: “This much-needed investment, in an area of high deprivation, will enable all of our children to learn in modern purpose-built schools designed for 21st century learning.”
Good news for the Harlow area, and remember if you are planning any construction work whether private or commercial, you can hire plant machinery such as high performance dumpers from Rhinos.
