The transformation of London has been ongoing, especially in recent years as the skyline steadily changes. 1. Crossrail [Elizabeth line]
This £15 billion scheme that will add 10 new London stations and increase London’s rail capacity by 10%, is the largest civil construction project in Europe. 2. Battersea Power Station
Is an iconic structure south of the River Thames in a sought after location, just one mile from the houses of parliament. Previously decommissioned, the station and surrounding area will become a desirable and vibrant neighbourhood after completion of an £8 billion redevelopment. The local community is set to prosper with the creation of 15,000 jobs and many opportunities that will boost the local economy and businesses.
3. The Scalpel
A dynamic and prestigious commercial skyscraper named the Scalpel has made an appearance in London’s Lime Street. Consisting of 37,000sqm of office accommodation, shops and restaurants covering 35 floors the structure is the 7th tallest in London and cost around £500 million to complete. Nearby can be found other unique buildings which reach for the sky such as the Cheesegrater and the Gherkin.
4. The Spire
With completion aimed at 2020, the Spire in London is a stunning 67 storey building with a cost of £800 million. Nicknamed the Flower Tower due to its petal like shape, it will be the tallest residential skyscraper in Europe.
5. The Thames Baths Lido
This exciting 10 Million project will see the transformation of a section of the Thames into three floating freshwater pools. Still at the first funding stage, the project will be an excellent leisure addition to the local area.
