Stratford has been a well-known destination for both British and international travellers ever since the Olympics took place there in 2012.
As a result, hotels are opening in the area left, right and centre. Two of the latest to be built are the Hilton and Adagio Aparthotel twin hotels near Stratford International: costing almost £80m in total, it’ll be construction firm Ardmore which will be responsible for getting the build underway.
The new hotels will be large: the planned Hilton will have almost three hundred bedrooms available over 18 floors once it’s open, and it’s believed that the branch will become part of Hilton’s Curio Collection.
Ardmore has plenty of experience building hotels, and they’ve previously been responsible for other major developments including some of the construction of the Athletes’ Village back in 2012.
Other well-respected firms will also be playing their part in the development. ICA, a design firm, have designed a copper-focused colour scheme for the hotel to remind guests of the train-based past of the area.
“By layering the heritage of Stratford into the design we feel we have created something that is iconic and will be a unique experience for guests,” said Chris Fegan, a director at ICA.
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was always designed to leave a legacy for local people, and that’s exactly what’s happened with the Chobham Manor housing development located on Olympic Park Avenue.
This project, developed by Taylor Wimpey, has been designed with discerning and cosmopolitan homeowners in mind. There’s a range of different types of property choice, for a start: from small apartments with one bedroom to larger three-bed options and even houses stretching as large as five bedrooms.
But Chobham Manor isn’t the end of the Olympic Park’s development. A further four developments are set to be built in the area over the next two decades, and it’s believed that almost 7,000 new homes will be made available in that time.
In addition, there’ll be all sorts of community facilities added in too, including medical centres and nurseries for childcare. Of course, there’s a real sporting heritage here also. With some of the country’s best sporting facilities on site, there’ll be plenty to keep you active.
Perhaps one of the development’s main attractions, though, is just how well-connected it is to the rest of London. It’s located just by Stratford station, which provides connections to the DLR (Docklands Light Railway), the London Underground Central and Jubilee lines, and the all-new Elizabeth Line too.
