A care home with space for almost fifty self-contained apartments is set to be constructed in South Ockendon.
The plans were given the green light by Thurrock Council late last year.
When built, the new home is expected to have a wide range of facilities. It’s probable, for example, that the eventual building will have a restaurant, kitchen, outdoor green space and more.
It’s likely that the building will contain 45 flats once it is completed, as well as an additional 30 bedrooms which will be used for interim care purposes – which could mean some of the residents stay there for short-term periods only.
At the time, Councillor Sue Little – who holds responsibility for social care – said that the new building would go alongside a range of other “fantastic” provisions already in place.
“It is not new to say that more people will become reliant on care services. It certainly isn’t a specific challenge in Thurrock, but one being faced nationwide,” she said.
“I believe we should be exploring all avenues to keep our older population safe and independent in high quality facilities.
“This new building will be in addition to the many fantastic services and residential care homes we currently have in the borough,” she added.
A recently-launched housing estate with a range of gorgeous new build homes has taken South Ockendon by storm.
The Highland Park development, which has been spearheaded by major British housing development firm Bellway, features a range of different home types for new residents to choose from – including houses ranging up to four bedrooms in size, as well as a choice of various-sized apartments.
Every home in the new development comes with private parking, and most of the houses on the site have their own gardens.
The Highland Park development is conveniently sited for transport links, which makes it an ideal choice for those who are always on the go. It is located just a fifteen minute walk away from the nearest railway station( where commuters can travel into London’s Fenchurch Street station), and it’s also located just by the M25 London Orbital motorway.
Thanks to the range of kid-friendly activities available in the area, the development is especially suited to those who have young children. It is located alongside many local schools such as The Ockendon Academy and Shaw Primary Academy, while the gorgeous Belhus Woods Country Park is under four miles away.
A range of major facilities are also located close by. Lakeside shopping centre is ten minutes’ drive away, while there are two major supermarkets in the vicinity. There are also some bars, restaurants and cafes available near Daiglen Drive, a local road.
