New Standards for Construction Contractors in Barking

Barking and Dagenham Council is the first local authority in the capital to support the Unite union’s Construction Charter. Any building company wishing to work on projects in Barking or Dagenham, will have to meet the standards laid out in the charter. The local council plans to develop 3,000 new homes by 2014, with 75% being classed as affordable.
